Become a Member

The Center for Spiritual Enlightenment, NSAC (The CSE) welcomes all who wish to join our Spiritualist community.  To apply for membership, please fill out the attached Membership Application and submit it in person at a church event or complete it and submit it online via our website.

The CSE Board of Directors reviews and approves applicants as Associate Members and requests payment of annual membership dues of $50 with the application form.  Dues are payable via the website or by check to The CSE at P.O. Box 6630, Falls Church, VA  22040-6630.

As an Associate Member, you will have all the privileges of membership except voting rights.  To become a full Member, you must complete, within 3 months of Board notification of your 

Membership Application approval, 5 of the 8 online Spiritualism 101 classes.  These classes are designed to fully educate you in the Science, Philosophy, and Religion of Spiritualism and to provide an opportunity for growth and encouragement for further study and soul development.

Spiritualism 101 classes may be watched live via Zoom (through July 21, 2026) or via recording on The CSE YouTube channel.

Satisfactory completion of Spiritualism 101 includes completing a short quiz for each video or meeting with a Pastoral Committee member to informally discuss the lessons.

After completion of the educational requirement, we will invite you to participate in the Right Hand of Fellowship (RHOF) Ceremony, where you will be asked to assert with a positive affirmation to the following questions:

1. Have you tested to the satisfaction of your own mind the sublime truth of Spirit communication, and accepted it as a means for the upliftment of humanity?

2. Do you promise, in so far as in your power, to conform to your highest conception of right, morality, and honor?

3. Will you aid and assist your suffering humankind by supplying their physical needs, so far as you can without injury to yourself or family, and by giving them such spiritual consolation as may be yours to impart whenever proper opportunity offers?

4. Will you cheerfully contribute your just and rightful share toward the support of this church, and do all that you reasonably can to promote harmony among its friends and members, and to make its influence a source of good in this community?

5. Do you affirm your acceptance of and belief in the Declaration of Principles of the National Spiritualist Association of Churches and do you promise to obey all the rules and regulations enjoined by the bylaws of the Association, and of this Church?

As an Associate Member, you will be included in our CSE Membership Directory unless you opt out. To opt out, email thecse@thecse.org with “Membership Directory” in the subject line and indicate if you’d like to be completely excluded or just have your name listed.
