CSE February Sunflower Times Update

We are proud to celebrate Black History Month in February. We’ve got a full month planned. Please join us and welcome our exciting speakers, singers and performers!

Black History Month

February 14: Speaker Marrice Coverson is the founder of the Institute for Positive Living and the Executive Director of the Open Book Program (an after-school literacy initiative for adolescents). She brings more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit field and is the Pastor of the Church of the Spirit in Chicago, the first female and African American to hold that position.

Our special guest singer, Winona Stanbuck, will perform Negro spirituals and gospels during our Sunday morning devotional service. She is a soprano who has appeared at Carnegie Hall and in the choruses of the Metropolitan and the Washington National Operas.

February 20: GONG Concert (7:30 pm) – Join us for a special and unique evening as Carl Davis performs on a unique set of gongs creating healing sounds and vibrations to stimulate the physical and psychological healing and relaxation. On Sunday, February 21st, our Speaker, Carl Davis, will perform a healing meditation during our Sunday morning devotional service.

February 28: Our speaker is Rev. Robert “Ram” Davis, an ordained minister and spiritual director in the Andana Church of Self-Realization. He will also present a workshop on Kriya Yoga, Meditation as a Way of Life at 1:00 pm. See the website for details.

February 25 and March 4: “Healing Protocol” (7:00pm): These 2 evenings are designed for those who are seeking certification from NSAC through the MPI course and to heal during Sunday services. All are welcome who are interested in this path. [Notice new dates]

February 26: Gallery Evening and Book Signing (7:30 pm): Reverend Anne Gehman will conduct a gallery for message bearing and participants will also be able to ask questions during a Q and A session.

March 19-21: Sharon Klingler, well-known author, international speaker, and clairvoyant joins us from Lily Dale, NY to perform a gallery reading on the 19^th, workshops - 20^th, and Sunday morning service - 21^st.

March 24^: Book Club, hosted by Dr. Wayne Knoll, will explore “The Power of Intention” by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

March 27^: Victorian Séance. Join us for our biggest fund raiser event of the year. Experience the costumes, music and cuisine of the Victorian Era.

The next CSE board meeting will be held Saturday, February 27th at 9 am in the CSE building. The board meetings are open to all CSE members. Please send any suggestions to be introduced to the meeting to Shelly Wooldridge, CSE Board President at shelly.wooldridge@gmail.com .

CSE has hired a new Executive Coordinator, Diane Tuluceanu and a new Public Relations person, Lucinda Wilson to replace Shelia Cash who is moving on to full-time work. You’ll see Diane’s name on upcoming CSE emails and announcements during the transition. Please welcome both of them. Congrats Shelia on your new venture, you will be greatly missed! Thanks for your hard work and dedication to CSE!

Do you have ideas to help CSE grow? Are you are a newer member with ideas to share? If you are a current CSE member and are interested in serving the center, then we are looking for you. Consider running for the Board of Directors in April 2010. Contact any current Board member for questions.

We may no longer park in the Park Washington office lot, behind in the State Theatre OR in the alley. You will be towed! You can park in the public lot or on Park Place, which is on the right side of the State Theater.
